Homeschool Laws by State

Every state allows homeschooling, the paperwork just differs. Pick your state for plain-English requirements, step-by-step start instructions, a free letter of intent template, and local homeschool communities near you.

Not every guide is at the same stage, and we say so plainly: 17 have the full Scout Verified depth pass, 28 are researched with a depth review in progress, and 6 are still being checked.

Still checking these

We verify every state's requirements against official sources before we publish, and these are not done. Some have pending legislation, others have a flagged discrepancy we will not paper over. We would rather show you nothing than show you something wrong:

  • Connecticut still checking
  • Iowa still checking
  • Maryland still checking
  • Nebraska still checking
  • New Hampshire still checking
  • Wyoming still checking
